Title: Mooi verrys uit die as (Beauty for ashes)
Medium: Mixed media on canvas: Printing ink and thinners/Charcoal/Chalk pastel/Flammable glue as a drawing medium
Size: 1800mm x 4200mm
Thinners prints: I use thinners to strip printing ink off paper and use this as a printing and painting medium. In nature, fire strips the land of weeds and scorches the Protea seeds to produce new growth. Charcoal: Burnt wood is used to create beauty out of something with little worth: Beauty for ashes. Flammable glue: This resembles the Protea seeds that gets burnt by natural fires. The glue is ignited on the canvas as seen in the detailed photos of the artwork.
